Chalkboards and blackboards are used interchangeably, but in reality they are two different boards. Chalkboards used to be made of slate stone that was black or gray. The color is what gave the board its name. Eventually blackboards were manufactured with steel using a green porcelain enameled paint to cover the surface. Teachers preferred this style of board as it cut down on the glare. Today's chalkboards and blackboards are either green or black and provide educators with a lot of versatility with presentations, notes, problem solving and more. Choose from boards in a variety of sizes, including lap boards for individual students to write on.
